Silver Eagle Ring with Celtic Design
£28.00
A detailed ring symbolising the Eagle as honoured in Viking and Celtic cultures. Oxidised sterling silver to highlight the intricate markings.
In Celtic mythology, the eagle is traditionally seen as one of the oldest of all creatures, surpassed only by the salmon in wisdom and age. It therefore symbolises maturity, wisdom and knowledge.
To the Vikings the eagle was even more significant. Odin, the king of gods, could turn himself into an eagle, fly to earth and drink the elixir of life offering immortality. If one saw an eagle it may be Odin in disguise, so all were displaying honour, courage and bravery around eagles. The symbol of an eagle was often used to inspire bravery in warriors.
