As a business rooted in ethical trading since 1997, we are proud to present our range of beautiful high-content silver jewellery from the Karen Hill Tribe of Northern Thailand.
This range has been purchased directly from a family business based in Chaing Mai province of Thailand, ensuring a fair price for the producers of this unique and beautiful art form.
The Karen (Karean, Karien, Karaiag, Yao, Yang) tribe people originate from Burma and have migrated into North Thailand for over a thousand years, Their hand-worked silver has a distinct style. Working with a higher quality of silver 97% – 98% instead of sterling 92.5%) means the silver is softer and allows for more intricate patterns to be developed.
The Karen people adorn themselves in silver, adding hundreds of silver beads to clothing and wearing many large pieces at the same time.
