Our shop in the Heart of Edinburgh

Royal Mile Silver

Handmade & unique silver jewellery, just off the Royal Mile in the heart of Edinburgh.

Royal Mile Silver was established in 1997, and for many years we shared our unique, ethically traded jewellery on market stalls across Edinburgh and online. Along the way we built a loyal following for our distinctive Celtic designs and handcrafted sterling silver.

Today we are proud to have a permanent home: a bricks-and-mortar shop just off the Royal Mile on Jeffrey Street, in the very heart of the city. Our full range is on display in store, and we offer a variety of personalised services to make a piece truly your own.

We look forward to welcoming you.

Jeffrey Street just off the Royal Mile in Edinburgh's Old Town

A little about Jeffrey Street

Our shop sits on one of the Old Town’s most characterful corners. Jeffrey Street curves gently down from the top of the Royal Mile, built in the Victorian era on a run of ten stone arches to open a route towards Market Street and the new Waverley Station. It takes its name from Lord Francis Jeffrey, the celebrated Edinburgh advocate and literary critic who helped found the Edinburgh Review.

For centuries this was the very edge of the old walled city, where the Netherbow Port once guarded the way into Edinburgh. The ancient closes that thread up to the High Street, among them Carrubber’s Close and Chalmer’s Close, still carry the footsteps of medieval merchants and craftspeople. Tucked along Carrubber’s Close you will also find Old St Paul’s, a place of worship since 1689 and the historic home of Scottish Episcopalianism in the city.

Today the street blends that deep history with a quiet, creative character. Independent shops and studios line the pavement, and the views across to Calton Hill are some of the finest in the Old Town. We think it makes the perfect home for handmade silver jewellery, and we would love for you to come and explore it for yourself.
